Santa Monica – First Surf

2 min read
Rolled out of bed, grabbed a coffee, and cruised down to Santa Monica. One of those mornings where the ocean’s just showing off — glassy waves, sun bouncing off the water, seagulls doing their thing.

Met the Fun Surf LA crew right on the sand. Super chill vibes. No long speeches, no overcomplicated instructions — just “Here’s your wetsuit, here’s your board, let’s go.” Quick pop-up demo on the sand, and suddenly I’m dragging this giant board into the water wondering what I just signed up for.

First wave? Missed it completely. Second? Tried to stand, got launched straight into the foam. Salt water up the nose, coughing, laughing — the whole thing.

Then I caught one. Felt it pick me up, feet found the board without thinking, wind in my face… and for a few seconds, I was actually surfing. Not pretty, but it counted.

By the end, my arms were toast, my hair was a mess, and I was covered in salt. But I walked off the beach grinning like an idiot.

Big thanks to Fun Surf LA for making it happen — from the good vibes to the perfect spot, they made my first surf in Santa Monica one to remember.
